Remember LPN Shield Decals? ⚕️ Licensed Practical Nurse "L P N" Shield Decal, Embla Crest, © 1969

Size: 3" ~ Unopened. Only one available! ~ It is unknown if the adhesive still works, as that is usually the first thing to fail.

A sweet one for the nurse in your life! This is a vintage 1960s self-stick decal for a Licensed Practical Nurse, still sealed in its bag on the original salmon-pink Embla Crest card. It's a gold-foil shield with a black border: a winged caduceus runs down the middle with a little L on the staff, a big P and N sit on either side on cream, and deep red blocks fill the corners. This is Version 2 of the LPN decal, and it's the only one I have. The adhesive may have gotten tired after all these years, so a dab of glue might help if you want to put it up.

🏷️ What's Printed on It

  • L P N (on the shield, around the caduceus)
  • © 1969 GREAT WESTERN ENT. INC. (tiny type along the bottom of the shield)
  • EMBLA CREST, EASY TO APPLY-SELF-STICK, 69¢ (on the card)

That tiny copyright line dates the design to 1969, by Great Western Enterprises, Inc. The Embla Crest decals were put out by the Atlantic Emblem Co. of Walterboro, South Carolina; one of the Embla Crest cards prints the company's Walterboro name right under the Embla Crest banner.

🩺 The Practical Nurse

Practical nursing has a long history in America. The first formal training program for practical nurses was started at the YWCA in New York City in 1892. By 1945 only 19 states licensed practical nurses, but after World War II the field took off: 260 new practical nursing schools opened between 1948 and 1954, and by 1955 every state had a licensing law. The LPN handles the everyday bedside care that keeps a hospital running, taking vital signs, preparing injections, dressing wounds and helping the doctors with tests and procedures. (In California and Texas, the same job goes by Licensed Vocational Nurse, or LVN.)

🏡 Display

It's a perfect gift for an LPN, a nursing student or a retired nurse, and it looks great framed right on its card in a nurses' station or a home office.

Returns & Exchange

Take your time — you've got a full six months. If a piece isn't right for you, send it back the way it reached you and we're good.

In the first 30 days your money goes straight back the way you paid. After that it's store credit, so you can put it toward something you'd rather have.

Return shipping we sort out between us, case by case. I don't make this difficult.

If something arrives damaged, or it isn't what I said it was, send me a photo within 48 hours and I'll make it right.

Email info@vintageantiquesgifts.com or call 802-356-9872 — that's me answering, not a call center.

The only things I can't take back are custom or special-order pieces and gift cards.
