Remember I ♥ Tweety Pins? 🐤 I ♥ Tweety, Sealed 1995 Warner Bros. Pinback Button

Size: 2 1/2" ~ Unopened in its package.

I love Tweety Bird on a 1995 Looney Tunes pin, unopened in its package! It brings back every cartoon with the sweetest little troublemaker Looney Tunes ever drew. Tweety's big yellow head fills a slate blue disc, three little feathers sticking up on top, those huge blue eyes and that tiny orange beak, with a red heart and "Tweety" in red letters across the top, all inside a bright orange rim.

🏷️ What's Printed on It

  • I ♥ Tweety
  • TM & © 1995 WARNER BROS.
  • Made In China, and MADE IN CHINA molded into the plastic back

2 1/2" ~ The colors of the backs vary; I've come across blue, yellow, white, green and pink, maybe more. Wire pin, still sealed in the clear bag, never worn.

😇 I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat!

Tweety started out as Bob Clampett's idea in the 1942 cartoon "A Tale of Two Kitties," and back then he was a naked little pink bird named Orson. After his first three cartoons the censors decided he was nude, so the studio painted him yellow to make it look like he had feathers, and that yellow Tweety is the one on this button. Friz Freleng teamed him up with the cat who became Sylvester in "Tweetie Pie" (1947), and that cartoon won the Warner Bros. cartoon studio its very first Academy Award.

Mel Blanc voiced Tweety from 1942 through 1989, and his last turn as the bird was in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" in 1988. Every "s" and "k" came out of Tweety as a "t," which is how we got "I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" and "I did! I did taw a puddy tat!" In 1951 Blanc even had a hit record, sung in character as Tweety with Billy May's orchestra.

The year on this pin was a big one for the little guy. In 1995 Tweety got the starring role in The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, with Granny running a detective agency and Sylvester still lurking, and the next year he was on the Tune Squad with Michael Jordan in Space Jam.

❤️ Where the Heart Comes From

The "I ♥" part has its own story. Milton Glaser drew the I ❤ NY logo with a red crayon on scrap paper in the back of a taxi in 1976, and New York State started using it in 1977 to bring in tourists. It was copied so much that the state had filed nearly 3,000 objections against imitators by 2005. A red heart after an "I" has meant "I love" ever since, from New York City all the way to one little yellow canary.

🏡 Display

It's a sweet gift for anybody who grew up with Tweety and Sylvester, and it's the kind of thing that looks great in a shadow box or a frame, or pinned on a jacket or a backpack, if you can bring yourself to open it. The supply is finite - once these last sealed 1995 Tweety pins are gone, they'll be very difficult to acquire. Like everything I sell, they've been stored in the dark at a steady 72°F, under 40% humidity.
